Did you think that it was all about sharing your new products with friends and family and they would be so excited that they would tell all their friends and family and you would have business coming out your ears. If so don’t feel bad, it’s a common mistake.
The bad news is if you continue on with that mind set…your business will die, you won’t make any money and you will then probably take on the opinion that Network Marketing just doesn’t work or that your no good at it. Neither are true.
Well, I don’t really know if your “good at it” or not, but I do know that anyone can learn. So, that’s the good news YOU CAN BE GOOD AT IT!
Whatever the challenges are that are setting you back, you can overcome them, if you want to. Getting into this business and thinking that you can be successful by just selling is like thinking that you are going to open up a restaurant because you can cook a few great dishes. That will only take you so far. If that’s all the farther you want to go, great – get cooking! But, if you want to rise to the top, you have to learn about every aspect of your business.
Network Marketing isn’t just about selling stuff its about learning how to do Network Marketing. It’s about learning how to talk to people, were to find leads, how to be a good leader for the team your building (you have to build a team to be successful), and most importantly, you have to really believe in two things – YOURSELF and YOUR PRODUCTS.
When I started my business with It Works! I choose this company because they had something I LOVED, that no one else had, The Ultimate Body Applicator. I tried it once, fell in love (because after 3 kids I never thought my stomach would look the same again) and started researching the company. My belief in the other product lines we offer, such as natural Weight Loss, Health Supplements and Skin Care all came with time and being a product of my product. If your in a business selling products that you don’t use…hmm well lets just say THATS NOT GOOD!
The second thing you have to believe in is YOU and that too, will grow with time and development. But don’t give up on yourself or your business because there is something that you struggle with. Don’t be a quitter – be a runner. Train for your race and work up to being able to go the whole mile. How will you know what you can accomplish if you give up before you even really get started. When I bring people onto my team I ask them if the are willing to give this business one full year not just “selling stuff” but also working on learning the business and self-development. If they are not interested in that commitment then chances are they may not be right for my team. I’m in this business to empower people to liver fuller, richer lives by enhancing their health, finances and spiritual growth. People have to want it, in order for you to help them GO GET IT!
There are some very practical habits you can develop and tools you can use to help you. I remember once asking someone how to grow a certain area of my business and the answer I got was “just work harder.” Ummmm, Ya, that doesn’t really help me when I’m already working hard. What I needed was self-development, skill and knowledge.
Here are 3 simple, practical ways to help you get started working on you and your Network Marketing Business.
1. Stay plugged in to your company. If they offer conference calls, get on them or at least listen to the recordings. If they offer trainings, go, even if you have to travel sometimes.
2. Stay connected to your up-line. If they offer calls, trainings, growth groups etc, take advantage. If you don’t have a supportive up-line that’s no excuse. Find out how to grow as a person and share what your learning with your team. BE THE UP-LINE.
3. WORK ON YOU!! Self Development is KEY to your success. If your company has any kind of self-development support that offers short video trainings on this, like mine does, take advantage!
On my team I use a couple of tools to help people get started. One is I HIGHLY recommend that everyone read Your First Year In Network Marketing, By Mark and Rene Yarnell. Another book recommendation is The Compound Effect by Darren Hardy. Both will help you and your team prepare and grow personally and professionally.
If you spend time working on yourself as a person, testing out techniques and strategies then pass those down to your team, you can and will be successful if you don’t quit and give up. The reason people fail, is that they never move past the I’m just selling stuff mentality into the broader horizon that is Network Marketing. So broaden your horizons, and start running today. You won’t regret it.
