Encouraging people is a positive in this world and you might think that if you are doing something positive everyone will love it. However, I have learned that no matter what it is you are doing or saying you are always going to have critics. The key is to continue be who God created you to be and do what He created you to do without letting the negativity get to you. Anytime you have something worth while to say you will have opposition. That’s just how it goes.
I have had some pretty rude people come visit me on my Facebook page. I have been called names, been told that my faith is stupid and that I am naive.
Thankfully, these people don’t get to me. As a matter of fact a few times I have even laughed at the insults because they were so far from the truth it was comical. I can shake my head, chuckle and say a little prayer for them. If you are going to be out there in a business or a ministry you have to be confident in who you are and who God has called you to be. You can’t allow the opinions of others to knock you down. Most of the time people don’t even know what they are talking about. They are just talking.
Learning who you are in Christ and knowing why you do what you do will help you to brush off the people that don’t want to hear what you have to say and focus on those that do.
My faith has gotten me through a lot really hard times in my life and I am confident not only in what I believe but in who I believe in. As a believer and Bible Teacher I have learned that the more you know, the more you realize that what you know and how you interpret the Bible can shift and change shades as your relationship with God deepens.
Some may think that is Naive, I think it takes guts to stand for something you believe in that no one can see. It takes courage to remain steadfast in a world where “faith” is often something many people put into the same category as politics and feel it should be kept private. Some may choose to call me names, but I’ll just remember who God say I am, His Beloved and pay no attention to those that try to put me down. For me, my faith is the essence of who I am. To ask me not to share my faith would be asking me to climb into a hole. There were a couple years of my life that I “hid” who I really am and the fire in my heart was so dim that I could barely recognize myself. God used that time in my life to strengthen me but I don’t ever want to live there again.
So don’t ever let anyone hush you about who you are. God created only one you and the world need the gifts that God has given you.
Everyone is entitled to their own opinions about everything and I think that we should be able to share, disagree and still remain friends. But there is no reason to be rude or arrogant about what you think. Sadly though, some people will be rude to you. No one ever taught them that just because you think something doesn’t mean you have to say it.
God has a plan and a mission for you and some will try to stop you, don’t let them. Focus on helping those that want to hear what you have to say.
Do what you do and be who you are and never let anyone steal that away from you! You are a force placed on this earth for a reason. Go be YOU and shine bright!
I would love to hear your thoughts on this post and how it impacted you. Leave a comment and share!
