Who’s Ability Are You Focusing On, Yours Or God’s?
Have you ever found yourself wondering how you got where you are in your life, If you are where you’re meant to be, If you’re going to stay on this road or if God has other plans for you? If you answered yes, you’re like 98% of most people.
I get asked pretty often, “How does a pastor/speaker/teacher end up in Network Marketing?” My answer is pretty simple. 1. This is where I felt God leading me because I needed to be home with my children and be able to earn an income 2. I’m passionate about people and this enables me to serve them. I can still use my gifts with the people God places in my sphere of influence every day!
Why am I telling you this? Because you may have found yourself questioning how, or if you are ever going to get the place that you envisioned yourself in so many years ago. You may think that the passion you have deep inside has nothing to do with where you are in life right now and you may be questioning yourself about the choices you have made or the direction you have gone in. I want to encourage you that you ARE being prepared, changed and transformed by God to be EVERYTHING that He created you to be.
We often have more faith in our own ability to get it wrong than we do in God’s ability to get it right but you WILL end up in the right place at the right time if you follow one simple truth. Make knowing Jesus your Determined Purpose. Everything else you need, everything else you feel passionate about will come forth in your life as you follow this ONE thing. We make it far more complicated than it needs to be. We question and doubt ourselves more frequently than we should and we forget that it’s God’s strength and Grace that will take us where we need to be.
If God put a passion and a desire in your heart HE will get you there when you make HIM your determined purpose. Stay FOCUSED on Him and let Him love you, guide you and transform you. His grace is bigger and more powerful than any mistakes you may have made or any shortcomings you may feel you have.
Often things may not look the way you thought they would but that doesn’t mean that they are wrong. If I listened to every person who questioned me about how I got where I am, I would be a confused mess, but I know, that I know, that I know that God is leading me and HE is my determined purpose. Give 100% of who you are to where you are! Don’t get so stuck on what you thought the plan would look like that you forget to enjoy the journey!
Be encouraged! You are loved, YOU have a purpose, and God IS big enough to get you where you’re going!
“[Not in your own strength] for it is God who is all the while effectually at work in you [energizing and creating in you the power and desire], both to will and to work for His good pleasure and satisfaction and delight.” Philippians 2:13 Amp

At first I didn’t have the belief that I was going to end up where I needed to, but that is because I didn’t keep asking God for help. It is as if we are programmed to be ashamed to have complete trust in Him. The road is rough, but I believe like you that He did not put this dream in here for the heck of it. He did it because He wants me to do something with it. Thank you for this amazing post!
Heather, Your right! God gave you a dream and a vision for a purpose! Continue to seek Him as you take the steps to follow your faith and never let fear of your dreams being too big or too hard to accomplish keep you from pursuing them. 😉
This is such a beautifully written article. I can feel your passion and totally admire your faith. Looking forward to reading more articles and blogs from you Daveda. 🙂
Thanks Nicole! I appreciate that 😉 I’m looking forward to connecting with you as well!
Hello Daveda, great article this really hit home for me “Make knowing Jesus your Determined Purpose.” Its so easy to get off track and distracted. He said in Matthew 6:33 “But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.” Now its time to just obey!
David, I’m glad to hear that this impacted you in a positive way! It really is easy to get off track and start focusing on so many other things that seem to be bigger and louder in our lives. But, this one thing will take us farther than any of the others 😉
I’m always so impressed with the It Works! reps who are doing MORE than just wrapping people and helping to change body composition. With this type of thinking you’re truly helping to change lives. Thank you for a great post!
Heather, the wrapping is only a small part for me! Yes, it is great and helps people build confidence and get healthy but ultimately I love connecting with people and speaking life into them! I’m glad you liked the post and I look forward to connecting with you. 😉
Daveda, I love this post! You are so right about enjoying the journey, life has so many surprises. We need to understand that sometimes we need to change the course we thought we should be on even though it’s sometimes hard to accept. Thank you – T 🙂
Hi Theresa! That’s right, sometimes the roads we take don’t look the way we thought they would but we have to learn to enjoy them and trust the Lord 😉
Lovely article. I sometimes feel guilty for asking for so much help but then I remember that He said ASK.
Shelley, YES He did! 😉 I also believe that it gives Him great joy to hear us come to Him as Father. He is a giver and LOVES to give to His children!
Nicely done! We all need purpose in our lives.
Thank You Jackie! We certainly do 😉
Enjoyed reading this post! What’s the point of being successful if you can’t enjoy the journey? I agree.
Thank Stephanie! That’s right, if you’re not enjoying life, you’re not REALLY successful!
Amen, Daveda!
I believe that God gives ALL of us gifts and talents to use in the world — our issue is that we rely solely on ourselves to implement them. Your point that we need to focus on GOD’s abilities instead of just our own is so true — and a GREAT reminder!
Thanks for the good post!
You’re Welcome Cathy. I’m so glad you enjoyed it. I agree when we look to hard at ourselves we will always see faults and flaws, when we focus on God we see potential!
Such a wonderful and inspiring article Daveda! I feel like your whole site speaks to your audience and helps them on so many different levels, wow! Nice work 😉
Thanks Chloe! That’s such a sweet compliment!
What an inspiring post! God is in control and there is nothing more liberating than making Him the center of your life. How do you describe your relationship with God?
Hi Lorii, What a big question! 😉 I think there are many ways I could describe my relationship with God but I guess the first word that comes to me is whole. My relationship with God makes me whole and helps me to see who I am truly created to be because of His love for me. He loves me and I receive His love and respond. I give Him my whole heart because I trust that He loves me and wants nothing but the best for me. Even in the struggles and moments of darkness I know He is with me because I can sense His presence, His joy and His peace. I could probably go on and on. But I hope that gives you some idea 😉
I agree. Sometimes we may feel that we are lost and we can’t find our purpose in life, but what I can say about this is, ‘trust in the Lord with all your heart’ because He’s is the one who put that passion and purpose in our hearts. If you have doubts, just pray and lift everything to Him and he will definitely be of aid 🙂
He sure will Edmund! I love that you said “He is the one who put that passion and purpose in our hearts” so true!! 😉
