How do you think God sees you?
- Have you ever felt like you were not where you “should be” in your faith or as a person?
- Do you spend a lot of time, thinking “if only I hadn’t messed up back there….then I would be farther in my walk with God?”
- Do you feel like you should be able to love God more or have more strength to change things about yourself, but you dont?
You’re not alone, I used to feel this way a lot, no, not a lot—all the time. I used to feel this way all the time.
In last weeks post Jesus. That says it all I share how one teachers words began my journey of breaking free from this type of oppression. The truth He shared had such a huge impact on me, and after reading the comments here and on other social media channels last week, I realized that the truth He shared is still setting people free today.
Many of us still feel like we should be more than what we are right now. We feel like we are not enough, just as we are.
The problem is, this is a lie, you are who you are supposed to be, at this point in time.
God appoints us seasons on this journey called life and we cannot skip over seasons. The season that you think “held you back” from being who you should be, didn’t hold you back, it changed and transformed you in ways that prepared you for where you are going. Trust me, I have seasons that temp me to think this way, but God uses all things together for good—even our mistakes and shortcomings. Therefore, we are where we should be.
One comment from last weeks post, really struck a deep cord with me. I could identify so deeply with what I heard as I read it. It was from Ruby over at Ruby Uhart, I hope she doesn’t mind me sharing this *wink Ruby* (By the way if you are interested in health, nutrition or want to know a little more about the joys of running a ranch, make a pit stop here >>> Ruby’s blog .)
Here is how her comment started, “I feel like you just gave me permission to not be what I am supposed to be or where my faith should be…”
Ruby, who says you are not what you are supposed to be? Who says that your faith isn’t exactly as it should be? My friend, you are perfect just as you are! Sure, it’s true, God’s not finished with you yet, He’s not finished with any of us.
We have to learn to see ourselves the way that God sees us, which is perfect in His sight. I know, I know, that’s a hard pill to swallow sometimes because we so naturally seem to see all we think we are not. But, that’s where faith comes in. It doesn’t take faith to see the negative, but it does take faith to remind ourselves of who we are to God and how He sees us, when we start to feel like we’re not what we are supposed to be or that our faith is somehow lacking.
Ruby, you have permission to be who you are, where you are! And, you don’t need MY permission to be happy and satisfied with that, you have God’s permission! He is pleased with you!
Same goes for YOU! God loves you just as you are! As you receive His love for you, you will continue to grow and transform from the person you are today into the person that you will be tomorrow. Each place is okay and where you should be. It’s really just about His eternal commitment to us and nothing else.
