This one thing—Jesus—is all that is needed
With my new book, The Power of Resting about to hit book shelves and on-line venues this week, I have been working on a companion devotional to accompany the message of Gods unconditional love. Faith comes by hearing the truth over and over and over again. So I don’t want you to hear the message in the book once, I want to you to hear it over and over again so you can receive it, own it and make it yours.
The following is a pre-view. It’s day 7 in the first run of the mauscript and I would LOVE to hear how this impacts you!
It’s All About Jesus
“We must remember in our walk with God that it always comes back to Christ crucified and resurrected. This is the simplicity of the Gospel. This is how much God loves every one of us. I am grateful that my salvation is not based on what I do. If it were, I am sure I would fail at it. We will all, in and of ourselves, fail and come up short of many things including love, holiness, faith, and faithfulness.
I took a class when I was in Bible College taught by a great man and teacher named Dr. Weldon E. Davis. He taught a principle so simplistic and true that it changed my heart and my view of God forever. He said,
“People often question what it is that really matters in our relationship with God?
Is it faith? Is it prayer? Is it worship? Is it personal growth, …, holiness?”
The answer is, “None of the above, the one and only thing that makes all of those other things possible
is God’s eternal commitment to us.”
This must always remain most important. We have nothing to do with God’s commitment; therefore, we can never fall short of it, because it’s all about Him.
“For God so greatly loved and dearly prized the world that He [even] gave up His only begotten (unique) Son, so that whoever believes in (trusts in, clings to, relies on) Him shall not perish (come to destruction, be lost) but have eternal (everlasting) life. For God did not send the Son into the world in order to judge (to reject, to condemn, to pass sentence on) the world, but that the world might find salvation and be made safe and sound through Him. He who believes in Him [who clings to, trusts in, relies on Him] is not judged [he who trusts in Him never comes up for judgment; for him there is no rejection, no condemnation—he incurs no damnation]; but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ’s name.]” John 3:16–18 Amp
Ask God to help you really receive this truth into your life. Ask Him to help you let go and surrender all of you and your own efforts, in exchange for all of Him and His finished work.”
I can’t wait for you to get your hands on the message in The Power of Resting, it will set you free to surrender and live in peace!
